EEG and Subjective Correlates of
Alpha-Frequency Binaural-Beat Stimulation Combined with Alpha Biofeedback.
(What this is: when two different frequencies of sound are presented,one to each ear, a third frequency equal to the difference between the two frequencies is experienced. This third,
binaural beat is actually the result of the
interaction of the two primary tones within the auditory brainstem. For example, if a pure tone with a frequency of 400 Hz is presented to one ear and a second tone of 410 Hz is presented to the other ear, a third binaural beat with a frequency of 10 Hz will also be heard as a result of the interaction of the two frequencies.
Binaural beats can be generated at frequencies below 40 Hz and may be used to entrain electrical rhythms of the brain to vibrate at the same frequency through the frequency-following response)
